2012 Summer Internship Application

DESCENDANTS OF KOREAN WAR FOUNDATION (DKWF) seek to offer academic internship opportunities to college/university students who are bloodline descendants of U.S. veterans served in Korean War.  For the year 2012, a committee has been established, partnering with the Korea Policy Review Foundation, to provide internship program for the descendant group.  Information about the Korea Policy Review Foundation can be obtained via web, www.koreapolicyreview.org.

With the partnership, DKWF Summer paid-internship program seeks to offer students with on-hand experience and an opportunity to contribute their skills, knowledge and abilities in government agencies and in the private sector, offered in Washington DC and in Seoul, South Korea.

DKWF plans to award up to FIVE (5) paid internships*.  Each selected internships winners will receive a minimum of $2,000 in stipend for their service.  Selected interns are required to work full-time during Summer, minimum of 2 months.  All travel expenses will be made by DKWF, however, internship winners are responsible for their own housing (room and board).

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Open to all bloodline descendants of U.S. veterans served in the Korean War.  A copy of the qualifying service DD-214 is required
  • Enrolled in a U.S. accredited college working toward a degree
  • Attained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale
  • Winners of DKWF scholarship are not eligible

Selection Criteria: Selection of DKWF interns will be based on applicant’s skills abilities and academic and special achievements.

Essay: Please submit an essay (500-750 words) remembering the heroic act of your family member who served in the Korean War and how the sacrifices he/she made for the Democracy and Freedom have and will shape your future goals in life.

To apply:  Applications will be accepted starting January 1, 2012.  Submit your completed application form, your essay, two (2) letters of recommendation/reference and your resume. Your completed application packet should be mailed to:

Application Deadline: The postmark deadline for applications is March 30, 2012.  Winners will be notified by April 30, 2012. We will only notify the winners.
