Postal Service Dedicates Korean War Medal of Honor Stamps

KOREAN WAR VETERANS COMMEMORATE 61ST CEASE-FIRE ANNIVERSARY

AT ARLINGTON CEMETERY SAT, JULY 26;

POSTAL SERVICE DEDICATES KOREAN WAR MEDAL OF HONOR STAMPS

 

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Korean War Veterans Association of the United States of America and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea pay tribute to veterans of the Korean War during a special event at Arlington National Cemetery’s Amphitheater Sat., July 26, 2014 at 10:40 a.m. commemorating the 61st anniversary of the signing the armistice, bringing a cease-fire between North and South Korea in 1953.

Prior to the ceremony in the Amphitheater, a wreath presentation will take place at the Tomb of the Unknowns.

The Honorable Ahn Ho-young, Republic of Korea, Ambassador to the United States of America, will be the keynote speaker. The President of the Korean War Veterans Association Mr. Larry Kinard, will speak on behalf of the Korean War Veterans.

Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe will dedicate the Medal of Honor: Korean War Forever Stamps that honor living recipients on the stamp sheet while still paying respect to all 145 recipients of the Medal of Honor from the Korean War. Approximately 5.7 million veterans served during the Korean War. Our nation honors her sons and daughters who answered the call to defend a country they never knew and a people they never met.
