The reception dinner is to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Signing of the Armistice on July 27, 1953 and to recognize and honor Korean War veterans who answered the call to serve during a time of crisis. Stories will be shared – suffering through fierce heat and bitter cold, torment of separation and isolation, and the anguish of untold misery during the War that lasted from 1950 to 1953. DKWF is currently accepting personal Korean War stories from veterans and their families to be shared at the reception dinner. Personal war stories can be submitted through our website, specifically in the “Saluting the Heroes” section.
Also as part of the program, DKWF representatives will award the winners of its scholarship and internship programs currently offered to descendants of the Korean War veterans. The deadline to apply for scholarship has been extended to June 15, 2013. Descendants of Korean War veterans are encouraged to apply.
